Meet Dr. Cook

Meet Dr. Cook

Dr. Allyson Cook has been with Chipman Road Animal Clinic since 1992 and has enjoyed seeing the staff and clinic grow from a single doctor practice in a strip mall to today’s multi-doctor practice with a full, dedicated staff in a wonderful new building. Dr Cook graduated from the MU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990, practicing both large and small animal medicine around the Lee's Summit area for her first few years out of school, and running an Equine Ambulatory Service for the last 20 years.

Allyson enjoys involvement in organized Veterinary Medicine, working through the offices of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, and serving on the board of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association for several years. She really enjoys working with students interested in the Sciences, and has spoken with High School, College, and Veterinary Students as well as taught middle school Science to 5th through 8th grades at Harrisonville Christian School for the past 8 years (with lots of hands-on experiences, animal models, and Bring Your Pet To School Days for her students!). Dr Cook will join the HCS School Board this fall 2014.

Within a month of graduation, Dr Cook started in an Equine/Small Animal practice, married her husband David and moved close to Lee's Summit with his yellow Lab and her shelter beagle, adding a cat or 2 with the move. Dave holds a PhD in Animal Reproductive Physiology and is Technical Services Manager for Milk Products, Inc., a division of Land O'Lakes specializing in young animal nutrition and health products. Dave rides a mule and likes to hunt, but is an avid football fan. Their two sons, Luke (19) and Ty (16) both also have interests in the outdoors, sports, and animal husbandry. Luke is a General Agriculture Student at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and team ropes for the College Rodeo Team, leaving his goat herd and (sadly) his favorite Corgi at home He is an excellent horseman and loves to travel, picking-up or working rodeos at any level. Ty is an A Student at Harrisonville High School, playing football, trapshooting, and raising goats and laying hens for FFA. Both boys like to ride horses, deer and turkey hunt, fish, and enjoy their Dad's outdoor grilling. Together, Dr. Cook and her husband stay busy with church, travel to games and rodeos, love to trail ride, and plan summer vacation time around Directing a Christian Children's Camp each summer, then traveling east to enjoy family reunions and the Ocean somewhere along the way.
