Our Puppy Veterinary Care

Our puppy care visits cover far more than just the basics—we’re here to offer thoughtful, full-circle support for your growing pup. From that first nose-to-tail wellness exam to custom nutrition guidance and a plan for future care, our team is with you every step of the way. Here’s what you can expect during and after your puppy’s first visit.

First Puppy Wellness Exam

Your puppy’s first veterinary visit helps establish a healthy foundation for their growth and development. During this initial check-up, we’ll examine your pup from nose to tail—tracking weight, checking temperature, and screening for parasites or early signs of illness.

Core and Optional Vaccinations

At your puppy’s first check-up, the vet will outline a personalized vaccination plan to keep them protected. Most puppies begin their vaccines around 6 to 8 weeks of age, with follow-up boosters given every few weeks until they’re about 16 weeks old.

Puppy Nutrition Guidance

Proper nutrition is essential during your puppy’s fast-growing stage. We’ll guide you in selecting a balanced, high-quality puppy food packed with essential nutrients for healthy development. Our team will also help you understand ideal feeding amounts based on your puppy’s size, breed, and energy levels to support steady growth and prevent overfeeding.

Spay/Neuter Consultation

Spaying or neutering is an important part of your puppy’s early wellness plan. Most puppies are ready for the procedure between 4 and 6 months of age, depending on their health and breed. Our veterinarians will walk you through what to expect, including timing, recovery, and the lifelong health benefits.

Microchipping & Identification

Microchipping offers a reliable, lifelong form of ID to help reunite you with your puppy if they ever get lost. Our team can place the chip quickly and with minimal discomfort during a regular visit—giving you added peace of mind as your pup grows and adventures.

Ongoing Health and Wellness Checks

Regular vet visits during your puppy’s first year help monitor healthy development during this rapid growth stage. We’ll track weight, behavior, and physical milestones to make sure your pup is thriving every step of the way.

Puppy Care FAQs

Have questions about your pet’s care or what to expect during your visit? Check out our FAQs for quick answers on services, walk-ins, and more.

  • Why does my puppy get the zoomies at night?

Zoomies, or playful bursts of energy, are normal for puppies. When puppies are tired and overstimulated, they can sprint through the house. Short walks or puzzle toys used earlier in the evening will help settle them down.

  • How can I get my puppy to feel comfortable with grooming?

Introduce grooming with short, positive experiences. Use treats and praise while handling their paws, ears, and brushing their coat. Getting them used to the process will build trust for future grooming or vet care.

  • Are there ways to prevent separation anxiety?

Yes. Practice with short periods of alone time during the puppy stage. Use puzzle toys and soothing background noise when away. Don’t make a big fuss over leaving or returning home so your pup will learn your absence is no big deal

  • Can my puppy sleep in my bed?

That's up to you. Ensure your pup is house-broken and settled into a sleep routine. Puppy care tip: Puppies can benefit from crate training first to establish boundaries and a sense of security.

  • My puppy eats everything like sticks and acorns – how can I stop this safely?

Puppies explore the world with their mouths. Distract them with appropriate chew toys and teach the “leave it” command early. Monitor outdoor play and use a leash to guide safe behavior during walks.
